- Andrey Proshutinsky of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute is the principle investigator for the Beaufort Gyre Freshwater Experiment:
A study of fresh water accumulation and release mechanism and a role of fresh water in Arctic climate variability.
- To support the design and operational planning for offshore oil and gas activities off the northeastern coast of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Federation,
an ongoing program of ice keel draft and ice velocity measurement is being conducted. The program was expanded to include Ice Profiler derived wave measurements.

- For scientific research in Antarctica examining ice draft, presence or absence of ice in conjunction with sediment studies.
